There is a truth to that adage. In my very first entry in my very first blog, I'd like to dedicate it to my friends. You might think that I'm such an ass to not dedicate it to my family and God first and foremost, but these people and metabeing know that they're already in my heart since the time I was born.

Going back to my younger years (grade school and prior), friendship is a simple thing. You play with someone, even for just a short while, you can consider him/her as a friend. It is fleeting, at times, as you could find a new playmate in the schoolyard. And then there are those who're with you for the rest of your life. Childhood friends, so to speak. I've never had one. But I'm not bitter. That's just the way life dealt it.

Moving on to my high school and college life, friendship becomes such a complex thing. You take into account your own likes and dislikes, their likes and dislikes, emotions, moods, thoughts, human behavior in general. But it's in these little details that makes a moment and the friendship itself special, or in the very least, memorable.

Along my journey, I have had the pleasure of knowing and befriending people from all walks of life, from the class A people to those who have next to nothing in this world (through volunteer work). But there are also times when you meet people who, for one reason or another, doesn't wanna be real friends with you. Either they don't want to, or they just pretend to be one. I'm pretty sure we've experienced this one time or another in our lives. Moments wherein people only befriend you for their own personal gains. I mean, that's still pretty tolerable, as long as they return the favor once in a while. There are those who simply don't.

Which brings me back to the adage. More often than not, you meet people who either use you or are just happy being acquaintances. Take note: it's their own choice if they'd want to be friends with you or not. It's hard enough to find ones who are really willing to befriend you. Rarer still are those who push through with their unspoken promise of being there when you need them.

I've been blessed to have found such friends. There are two groups of friends I treasure right now, though I hope in the future I could mesh these friends under one happy group.

The first group is composed of people I met from Pisay (that's colloquial for PSHS), my high school alma mater. They are the ones who have been with me through my formative teen years and who have stuck with all my instability and quirks. They have accepted me for who I am and I trust them so much, I'd go to hell and back with them. And even though we went to pursue different degrees and don't see much anymore, it's still the same whenever we meet up at times. And bringing in the fact that it's been 5 years since our graduation from high school, it's amazes me at times how true these people have been and still are to our friendships. Here's to you!

A big shoutout for these good friends (in no particular order):
Chuck, Banggols, Tabs, Al, Toti, Mike, Arian, Jay, Presto, Leo, Gelo, Ayi, Carlos, Rian, George, Bibo, Anton, Paulyn, Jules, Joe, Hades, Tibs, Dex, Tunyuh, Hans, Paolo, Mervs, Loo, Kate, J-Ann, Arvin.

The second group is composed of people I've met only recently in UP - CMC (as recently as 3 months ago). It may seem as if that's not much time to judge their worth as true friends, but they've shown, and they still do, time and again how they value our friendship. Being a shiftee from engineering and knowing no one from CMC, I've been very lucky to have met these people, as they have been invaluable in making the transition, as well as in going through life in general. Never have I thought that in three months, I'd have great friends such as them. And I know that they would never ever turn their back on me, that they would never stab me in the back, that they would tell me what I need to hear, not what I want to. Already they are so dear to me that I miss them this sem break. Here's to you!

Another big shoutout for these friends (in no particular order, again...):
Nep, Icang, Glenn, Ayn, ES, Kizay, Chinggay, Bebs, Leo, Dohna, Tonet, Irene, Joyce, Jerwin, Gino, Joanne, Nina, Jemille, Yosha, AB, Tess, Ace M., Nikki, Dah, Armi, Jen, Keina, Ces, Nikko, Sen, Dane, Klara, Cherish, Cris, Patty, Anna, Kim, Mike, Fern, Mark, Kit, Via, Cziarra, Kath, Lanie, Niner, Tricia, Mhedz, Miles, Yam, Sarah.

And there are those that I haven't placed in a group just yet (although most of these are from the same org in UP...):
Felai, Paul, Mado, Natz, GM, April, Mavis, Kai, Sheena, Julius.

Over time, this list might grow, and hopefully it will. Gives me more fodder for my blog. :) To those I might have forgotten (since I am simply rattling off names that comes to memory a tthis instant), I'm very sorry and I'll continue to update this list. But to those already mentioned in this, my deepest gratitude to you all. :)
